Can I set up "air braking" with my twin rudders on my twin tail model?
Setting up "air brakes" via the twin rudders can be done. You will need to:
- Select the channel for the second rudder. Example, 7.
- Go to the aux screen and set that channels control to null so nothing can accidentally trim that second rudder servo.
- Mix from channel 4 to the 2nd rudder channel +100%, trim on, link off switch off. this means they now work as normal rudders, all the time.
- Mix from 2nd rudder ch (7) to channel 4 -100%. Now when ch 7 is moved ch 4 moves exactly opposite. set link to Off.
- Now do a mix where master is OFFSET and slave is the 2nd rudder channel (7), 100% (for now, you'll adjust this amount later to control how far the airbrake go out on movement of the switch). link is ON switch is your desired deployment switch, lets say B down.
Now try it. Switch B in the up position. Do your rudders work normally? Good!
Now try the airbrake, put B in the down position. Do the rudders pop "out" as desired? Great! If they go the wrong way (in instead of out) reverse the % of the mix from step E.
